Fourth Annual Ohio
Free Clinic Conference
"Healthy Free Clinics Creating Healthy Communities",
the OAFC's Fourth Annual Conference, took place October 19-21,
2003. The conference was a great success, with a 46% increase
in attendance over last year. Twelve physicians attended the
conference, including nine family physicians. A pediatrician
who was instrumental in starting a free clinic in Wooster,
Dr. Viola Startzman, was awarded the Champion of Free Clinics
award.
Here are some comments from the participants at the Forth
Annual Ohio Free Clinics Conference:
“An introduction to the nuts
and bolts of how some of the most wonderful, service-minded
people in Ohio are addressing the health care needs of their
neighbors.”
“SO many ideas, so much information. Can’t
wait to get to work. This has been most helpful!”
“The OAFC Conference was very
professionally done. Excellent workshops and networking opportunities.
Kudos to OAFC and Amy.”
“The friendships formed and
sealed make this so worthwhile. To also be informed and to
learn new approaches to life in a free clinic and to know that
I do not stand alone is worth more than gold.”
“As a newcomer to the world
of Free Clinics, this conference was very valuable to me in
helping plan strategies and develop tactics to better fulfill
our mission.”
“I always take back new ideas
and thoughts for consideration in implementing at our free
clinic. Lots of good information! I look forward to the conference
every year.”
“What a great way to connect
with others in the movement to share a wealth of ideas and
experiences which ultimately helps strengthen and drive us
as an association and as individual clinics.”
