  • Ohio Health Care Safety Net is a description of public and private health care programs compiled by the Ohio Family Coverage Coalition.  This is intended to be a helpful resource for those who assist the uninsured and those who craft public policy.

  • "Ohio's Best Rx is a prescription drug discount card program designed to lower the cost of prescriptions for Ohio residents without prescription drug insurance coverage who are either 60 years of age OR under age 60 with annual family incomes of less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level.www.ohiobestrx.org

  • "The Ohio Benefit Bank (OBB) is a public-private partnership that provides community outreach and access to low and moderate-income Ohioans for free tax preparation and public benefits.  The OBB allows eligible Ohioans to claim tax credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, and public benefits, such as food stamps, child care sibsidies, home energy assistance and children's health care insurance." 
  • For any information or resources to assist a patient with cancer, contact your local American Cancer Society Patient Navigator.  There are twenty (20) Navigators across the state, each serving a few Ohio counties, who are equipped to meet the needs of cancer patients and survivors.  Call 1-888-227-6446 and ask for the Patient Navigator in your area.
  • The Ohio Department of Health Breast & Cervical Cancer Project is "a statewide, high-quality breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic program offered at no cost to eligible women.  The services include: pelvic exams, pap tests, clinical breast exams, mammograms, and diagnostic testing (when necessary).  See their website for eligibility requirements and regional project information.
  • The Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease is a national coalition of patients, providers, community organizations, business and labor groups and health policy experts, committed to raising awareness of policies and practices that save lives and reduce health costs through more effective prevention and management of chronic disease. Search their website for helpful information on chronic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension.
  • Ohio Consumers for Health Coverage (OCHC) is a statewide coalition of organizations and individuals building a united, organized consumer voice and seeking to expand affordable and adequate coverage to all

  • The Healthy Start, Health Families Application Online provides web users the ability to download the application for health coverage for low-income working families and pregnant women.  Application
  • Gov. Strickland’s TurnAround Ohio initiatives have helped expand health care coverage to more Ohioans including pregnant women. Now, Ohio Medicaid provides health care coverage for pregnant women (of any age) who earn up to 200% of the federal poverty level ($35,208 for a family of three).   • The MyMedicareMatters Web site is designed to help individuals learn more about the Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage.  The National Council on the Aging (NCOA) and the Access to Benefits Coalition (ABC) sponsor the site, with support from AstraZeneca.  The Web site was developed using materials from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as well as materials developed by NCOA, ABC, and AstraZeneca. www.mymedicarematters.org
